Focus on Energy offers incentives to owners of existing apartment and condo buildings who make energy efficiency improvements. The program offers a combination of technical assistance, prescriptive equipment rebates, and custom incentives based on the amount of energy that a project saves. Eligible equipment generally includes energy efficient appliances, HVAC equipment, building shell improvements, and lighting measures. Incentives are available for common area and building improvements, as well as certain improvements made in individual dwelling units.
To begin participating in the program, eligible building owners/managers work with a Focus Energy Advisor to perform a free energy assessment and identify suitable building improvements. For prescriptive HVAC and appliance rebates, up to $10,000 in incentives are available without pre-approval. Custom incentives for electricity and natural gas savings are broken down into three tiers based on the estimated energy savings. View the program web site for a full list of prescriptive and custom incentives for existing multi-family buildings. The Focus on Energy program itself does not have a specific expiration date, although many individual program applications expire at different times throughout the year.
Focus on Energy works with eligible Wisconsin residents and businesses to install cost effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Focus information, resources and financial incentives help to implement projects that otherwise would not be completed, or to complete projects sooner than scheduled. Its efforts help Wisconsin residents and businesses manage rising energy costs, promote in-state economic development, protect our environment and control the state's growing demand for electricity and natural gas.
Please note that customer eligibility for Focus on Energy incentives is based on utility participation; interested individuals and companies should use the eligibility tool on the program web site to determine if their local utility participates in the Focus on Energy program (participating utilities listed here). Further incentive details, applications, and other information are available at the program website.
Incentives are also available for multifamily new construction. Owners and landlords of existing rental buildings in the Wisconsin Public Service territory may also be eligible for additional incentives and technical assistance. Interested customers should contact Focus on Energy.
