Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) offers four different programs for its commercial customers for technical assistance, retrofitting inefficient equipment, purchasing new equipment, and combined heat and power.
Small Business Energy Solutions:
This program is targeted towards small business owners and small nonprofit organizations that have an average monthly billing demand of 60 kW or less and are on Rate Schedule G and GS.
The program begins with an on –site energy audit of the business to identify cost effective solutions to increase energy efficiency of the place. Specific recommendations will be provided to manage lighting, refrigeration, cooling, and other energy loads. The program will provide financial incentives up to 80% of the cost of installation of most lighting and retrofit projects. Customers may use BEGs on-bill financing program to pay the 20% of the upgrade cost to spread the payment over 12 months. Interested business may reach out to approved BGE program contractors listed in the program website for consultation.
Energy Solutions for Business:
BGE Business program offers both prescriptive and custom incentives for industrial and commercial customers to increase their energy efficiency. Financial incentives are available that cove up to 50% of the cost for retrofit projects and up to 75% of the incremental cost of new construction projects. The program is open to all non-residential customers in BGE service territory with rate schedule G, GS, GL, P and T. List of financial incentives are provided in the program detail box above. Projects that have less than $5,000 in incentives do not require pre-approval. Businesses seeking specific custom energy efficiency measures must contact BGE for approval.
Building Tune-up program provides financial incentives that could cover up to 75% of the total cost of increasing energy efficiency of existing buildings. Incentives are capped at $15,000 per small building (less than 75,000 sq ft), and $30,000 for large building (larger than 75,000 sq ft). This program covers costs for monitoring, optimizing energy performance of the building.
More information about the program is available in its program manual.
BGE offers incentive up to $2.5 million to industrial and commercial customers to install Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems on site. The program is open to all BGE nonresidential, industrial, commercial, governmental, institutional, and non-profit customers. CHP systems can be a reciprocating engine or a gas turbine and must operate with minimum efficiency of 65%. The program offers three levels of incentives:
