Established in Jackson County in 1938, Jackson Energy Cooperative, A Touchstone Energy Cooperative, is a regional utility with headquarters in McKee, Kentucky, serving over 51,000 members in 15 southeastern Kentucky counties. It currently offers several rebate programs to members for increasing the efficiency of homes.
Customers who have built new homes can apply for the Touchstone Energy Home rebate, whereby customers get a $750 rebate for building homes according to Touchstone Energy Home standards.
There is also a rebate for replacing air source heat pumps with electric heat resistance that offers a maximum rebate of $1,000 for 15 SEER or higher systems.
Jackson Energy Cooperative also offers a duct sealing program and rebates for Energy Star certified appliances and heat pumps.
The Button Up program encourages members to add insulation and other products and materials to their homes that will result in electric energy savings. Other products could include improved doors and windows, weather stripping, and general air sealing. The rebate is calculated so the member receives $40.00 for every 1000 Btu’s saved from the improvements that were made. The home is required to be a least two years old and all electric. There are four levels, with a maximum incentive of $1,370.
More information on all programs is available on the co-op's web site listed above.
