The Energize CT offers a program designed to encourage the construction of energy efficient homes. The Residential New Construction Program offers incentives targeted at increasing energy efficiency in several important stages in the construction process. Measures eligible for these rebates include 2009 IECC code compliance duct & envelope testing, ENERGY STAR certification, as well as a rebates offsetting the cost of performing a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating. Incentives vary based upon the HERS scores, and whether dwelling is a single or multi-family residence.
The program is administered by participating utilities, including Eversource Energy, United Illuminating, Connecticut Natural Gas, and Southern Connecticut Gas. Interested customers are required to complete the "Initial Plan" section of the application and submit it to the respective utility administrators prior to starting insulation work to ensure eligibility.
