Name: | Denver 2020 Sustainability Goals |
The city of Denver has created sustainability goals that need to be met by 2020. There are government operations goals and more general community goals as well.
The goal for the local government is to reduce energy consumed in city-operated buildings and vehicles by 20% while doubling renewable energy produced from city facilities over the 2012 baseline. This promotes the use of green power purchasing across the city.
The more general community goal is to hold total energy consumed in Denver for buildings, mobility and industrial processes below the total consumed in 2012, while cutting fossil fuel consumption by 50% from 2012 levels.
