Whole Building Approach: The whole building approach provides financial assistance with building design and incentives based on the building's performance upon completion of construction. It is only available for projects in the early design phase which are using an integrated approach. When the design of an eligible building is complete, Fort Collins will award the building owner with $5,000 plus $0.10 per square feet (SF) up to 300,000 SF, with a lifetime incentive cap of $50,000. Upon completion of the building, Fort Collins will issue a second incentive payment based on the performance actual kBtu/year reduction. A portion of the performance incentive can be advanced during the construction phase.

Prescriptive Approach: The prescriptive approach provides individual incentives for certain pre-approved efficiency measures installed in a new building. Eligible measures include lighting, HVAC equipment, building envelope, electric motors, and custom measures. Exact incentives vary depending on the specific equipment type installed.
