The City of Palo Alto's "Business New Construction Rebate Program" provides financial incentives for commercial, municipal, and school buildings built to the program's energy efficiency standards. To qualify for the new construction incentive, facilities must exceed the efficiency requirement set by Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations by at least 10%. For buildings that are 20% to 30% more efficient than Title 24, electric incentives are provided on a sliding scale (ex: 22.3% above Title 24 = $0.223/kWh saved; 26.4% above Title 24 = $0.264/kWh; etc.). Buildings that are more than 30% more efficient than Title 24 requirements will be provided rebates of $0.30/kWh saved. Natural Gas Rebates are a flat $1.00/ first year therm savings for projects that are 10% more efficient than Title 24. Total incentive is capped at $150,000 per project.
