Brazil targets to develop about 10 GW PV power until 2026

The Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (Ministério de Minas e Energia, MME) published its draft of the 10 years energy expansion plan until 2026 (Plano Decenal de Energia, PDE 2026). According to the document, the Ministry targets that renewables cover about 48 percent of the country’s power demand in 2026, which means a cumulative installed renewable capacity of about 173 GW (2016: 125 GW). This includes 9.6 GW solar PV power, 28 GW of installed wind capacity and 103 GW of hydro power to be installed in 2026.
