UK based Wirsol Energy Ltd, part of German Wircon Group, has partnered with Australian renewables developer, Renew Estate, to embark on the development of a gigawatt-scale project development pipeline. According to the company, the development of over 400 MW of large-scale solar farm projects is already underway, with construction of the first projects targeted to commence in Q1 2018.
In March, the company announced the acquisition of three new large-scale solar farm projects in Australia totaling 198 MW: the »Whitsunday« and »Hamilton« solar farms in Queensland (69 MW capacity each), and the »Gannawarra« solar farm in Victoria (60 MW). Total investment is about $381 million (€269 million). A syndicate of domestic and international banks providing a $232 million long-term debt facility. Annual output of »Whitsunday« and Hamilton«, both located North of Collinsville, will be around 144,000 MWh each. The »Gannawarra« solar farm is located West of Kerang and will generate about 116,000 MWh per year.
»Whitsunday« and »Hamilton« solar farms will be constructed by French firm Bouygues Construction. The »Gannawarra« solar farm will be constructed by Australian company RCR.
