Spanish solar tracker specialist STI Norland is augmenting once more its footprint in Latin America with the shipment and installation of 202 of its STI H1250 trackers at a large-scale PV project in Brazil.

The Assú V solar park in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Norte will be a 36.7 MWp solar power plant once completed, forming part of a cluster of five utility-scale solar plants in the region.

This ambitious project was first approved in November 2015 and is expected to generate much-needed employment for 400 locals during the construction and operation phase. Once commissioned, output from the solar plant will meet the electricity needs of 130,000 local households, the developer calculates.

STI Norland’s Brazilian subsidiary, STI Norland Brasil, will oversee the delivery and installation of the tracker technology, which is increasingly in demand in Latin America thanks to its efficacy in such a climate.

This project is STI Norland’s second in Brazil, and builds upon its growing footprint in both this country, and neighboring South American nations. Notably, STI Norland supplied the mounting structures at the enormous 247 MW El Romero PV plant in Chile’s Atacama region.
