For more than 35 years, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)—an independent national non-profit—has pushed for the adoption of sustainable and efficient energy through fact-based policy leadership, quality workforce development and consumer empowerment.

Since 2008, IREC has made an annual call for nominees for its 3iAwards, which honor innovative people, projects and programs that promote and accelerate the sustainable growth of clean energy. The awards recognize innovation, ingenuity and inspiration from the nation’s best in both renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Watch this year’s ceremony on Tuesday, July 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Innovation and Application Stage Level 3, Alcove 1 at Moscone West.

Award categories include: State & Local Government Achievement of the Year, Community/Shared Renewables Energy Project of the Year, Regulatory Champion of the Year, and IREC Certified Clean Energy Trainer of the Year.

IREC will also recognize three individuals as “Energy Heroes” for their commitment to helping IREC and for supporting clean energy policies and programs in the United States.

Winners are chosen by a national review committee.

“Our 3iAward recipients are among the nation’s most extraordinary people, projects and programs helping to make a sustainable energy future possible,” said IREC board chair Larry Shirley.

“Their work is setting new standards, creating solutions to today’s complex renewable energy and energy efficiency challenges, changing communities and our national energy landscape in the process,” said Ken Jurman, IREC board member and chair of the 3iAwards Committee.

IREC envisions a world powered by clean sustainable energy, where society’s interests are valued and protected. Its work has propelled today’s clean energy growth trends by building a strong foundation of clean energy, state and national policy best practices and quality workforce training standards and programs.
