New tariff low in Indian Tamil Nadu PV tender at $0.053 per kWh

In the Indian 1,500 MW Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) tender, Raasi Green Earth Energy won the bid to develop 100 MW of solar by quoting INR 3.47 ($0.05364) per kWh. »This is the lowest solar tariff ever quoted in the state of Tamil Nadu,« reported consultancy Mercom Capital Group.

The tariffs quoted ranged between a high of INR 4 ($0.06184) and a low of INR 3.47. Sai Jyothi Infrastructure Ventures Private Limited quoted INR 3.60 ($0.05565) per kWh to develop 54 MW; Solitaire BTN Solar Private Limited quoted INR 3.69 ($0.05705) per kWh to develop 150 MW; and Narbheram Vishram and NVR Energy Private Limited quoted INR 3.85 ($0.05952) per kWh to develop 100 MW, says Mercom citing a TANGEDCO official. Furthermore, a number of developers are planning to install PV systems with capacities between 1 and 200 MW.

Overall, TANGEDCO received bids aggregating 3.7 GW in response to its 1.5 GW solar tender.
