SolarView is an augmented reality app that allows contractors to preview every piece of solar energy equipment that they are going to install on someone’s home.

SolarView has built 3D of conduit and solar power inverters, and disconnect boxes so that the client can see what is going to be installed on their home before the solar panel installation has happened.

This helps avoid change orders or the customer being blindsided by the solar panel installation. By including them in the process, they feel a little more invested in how solar energy equipment is going to be installed. It will increase your referrals and your overall customer satisfaction.

The user base for this product is growing. It’s been a bit of a change for contractors to want to show all of the equipment. However, once the contractors understand that the conversation is better to have ahead of time (before the solar panel installation is complete versus after the solar panel installation is complete), then they start to see the value in creating a visual estimate to show the client.

The device uses vertical wall detection. When you’re standing out by someone’s main service panel, it will detect the wall and then you can place 3D models on the wall. This is will be an actual scale representation of how the equipment is going to look and how big it will be.

To use this app, you will start with the vertical plane detection. When the wall is being detected, you can tap the screen and select where you want to place your solar power inverter. Then you can put a conduit and you will be able to extend it out. This will show your client exactly what you’re going to install with your solar-powered system.  

Once your screenshot the visual, it will say this it’s a visual estimate, not a guarantee. You can then have the customer sign off on the estimate on the sport, creating a timestamp of their approval.
