Trumps Solar Panel Tariff Could Be Costly

It seems as though President Trump is mucking up the recently booming solar panel industry.  Recently, Trump imposed a 4-year tariff on imported solar panels. 

Following the implementation of this new tariff, new solar panel imports will be subjected to 30% for the first year, sliding 5% incrementally each year for the four year tariff.  The decision to impose this tariff came with Trump's "America First" trade policy.  

What The Solar Experts Say

“The cost of imported panels will go up by 30%, making solar more expensive for homeowners, large companies, and communities, all areas that have been growing rapidly over the past several years,” said a spokesman for the Solar Energy Industries Association. “Given the competitive nature of electricity, it’s possible that some large-scale projects will be canceled and some rooftop markets will be less competitive.”
