Heraeus develops new low activity tabbing paste for PERC applications

A white paper by Germany’s Heraeus, recently published at the 7th International Conference on Silicon Photovoltaics, SiliconPV 2017, delivers a details synopsis of how the firm’s new low activity tabbing paste for mono- and multi-PERC solar cell wafers can deliver higher efficiencies and longer term reliability.

Heraeus’ new generation of silver backside tabbing pastes contains a new glass chemistry, that the company claims helps to minimize the reaction between paste and passivation layer, delivering higher aged adhesion.

Based on this new inorganic chemistry, the Heraeus tabbing paste imparts a more controlled reaction between the Ag (Silver) and the dialectric layer, which maintains the passivation layer inherent in PERC technology while improving cell efficiency and solderability.

These facets combined could help to deliver better durability and longer life in typical solar PERC cells, Hereaus says.
