Spanish firm Solarpack has been selected, via its subsidiary Ekialde Solar, to develop five solar systems with a total power of 133MW in the Indian state of Karnataka.
The solar parks, located in the towns of Afzalpur, Chincholi, Holenarsipura, Nanjangund and Yelandur, will enter operation in September 2019. They are expected to generate around 215GWh of electricity a year under a 25-year power-purchase agreement.
Solarpack already has 104MW of solar in India, spread across six PV plants.
Pablo Burgos, Solarpack’s CEO, commented: “This second contract consolidates our position in India, a market which we see as key in the coming years. Solarpack has made an important commitment to internationalization and this process has seen us becoming a key player in the sector.”
As well as the projects in India, Solarpack has commissioned 37MW across seven locations in Spain, 67MW in seven solar plants in Chile, 62MW in another three plants in Peru and 26MW in a solar park in Uruguay.
