Acciona Energía plans to develop a pair of PV projects in Chile over the next three years that will boast a combined generation capacity of 126MW.

Starting in early 2019, Acciona will begin construction on the 62MW Almeyda PV plant, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Once finished, it will cover 150 hectares of land in the locality of Diego de Almagro in the region of Atacama.

In the third quarter of 2019, Acciona also plans to start construction on the 64MW Usya PV project, with completion slated for mid-2020. That installation will cover 105 hectares in Calama in the region of Antofagasta.

Both projects represent a total investment of around US$150 million. Both projects have already signed off on a PPA with the National Mining Company of Chile (ENAMI).

ACCIONA Energía CEO, South America José Ignacio Escobar, said: “We are undertaking major investments over this three-year period, which will considerably strengthen our presence in the thriving renewable energy sector in Chile.”

In addition, Acciona also plans to develop two wind farms with a combined generation capacity of 270MW over the next three years.
