Origis Energy USA, Inc, a Miami based solar development and construction firm, delivered the first modules to the construction site of the 50 MW (ac) / 62 MW (dc) PV facility which will be located near »Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom«. According to the company, construction will begin »in the coming months.« The system will generate approximately 120,000 MWh each year, enough to power two of Disney’s four theme parks in Central Florida.
As reported, the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed in January. The Origis Energy designs call for the use of single axis tracking technology, approximately 518,000 solar panel modules and will interconnect to the Reedy Creek Improvement District power distribution system. The project is anticipated to be completed by year end 2018. Two years ago, utility Duke Energy Corp. installed a 5 MW solar facility near Epcot that was developed in conjunction with the Reedy Creek Improvement District to deliver its energy to the Walt Disney World Resort.
