Single-axis solar tracker firm Soltec said it had won the order to supply Scatec Solar 162MW PV project in Quixeré, Northeast Brazil amidst strong competition, bringing its project wins in the country to 909MW.

Norwegian independent solar energy provider, Scatec Solar is using 5,368 units of Soltec’s latest SF7 tracker, which has no array-gaps on the tracker and is claimed to achieve a complete tracker module-fill that enables up to 5% greater yield density than competitor offerings.

“With 909 MW supplied and underway in Brazil, Soltec has proven to be a reliable partner in large-scale projects. Soltec’s strong manufacturing and supply capacity in Brazil enables customer project success,” said Carlos G. Mena, Country Manager Brazil.

Soltec manufactures locally in Brazil in compliance with FINAME accreditation regulations granted by the Brazilian Development Bank.

Scatec Solar had previously announced that Norway’s Statoil had secured a 40% equity position in planned Apodi named project. The JV was said to be responsible for construction, operation and maintenance of the plant, which would cost around US$215 million and completed and grid connected by the end of 2018.

“We are proud to partner for the first time with the independent solar energy provider Scatec Solar,” stated Raúl Morales, CEO of Soltec. “Key features of SF7 that Scatec Solar values highly include fewest piles-per-MW and greater installation tolerances on steep-slope and irregular land.”

Soltec said that with the recent Scatec project win, it had supplied 1.7GW of trackers to Latin America.
