Spanish developer of renewable utility-scale projects Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), part of Saudi Arabian company Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, announced the development of its first hybrid solar-wind project in Chile. The company has been awarded 540 GWh of energy in the country’s last tender. This is the company’s first project in the Andean country, where it started its activities in previous years. FRV obtained in this tender 25 percent of the total electricity sold (2,200 GWh). This project will be developed between the Northern and the Central part of Chile. Technical or financial details were not disclosed.

Furthermore, in Mexico, the company will start construction of a 300 MW solar farm in San Luis Potosi in early 2018, in the Municipality of Villa de Ramos in the State of San Luis de Potosi. The investment is about $200 million. As reported, the company has been awarded in the second electricity market auction, conducted by the National Energy Control Center (CENACE) of Mexico with a rate of $26.99 per MWh, followed by the PPA with CFE Suministro Basico in March 2017. The plant will become operational in mid-2019.
