Germany's EEG levy increased by €1 billion in 2017 compared to 2016

The German EEG levy account, which funds Germany’s renewable energy programs, had a cumulative surplus of €3.91 billion ($4.67 billion) at the end of December compared to €3.43 billion ($4.04 billion) at the end of November.

In December alone, revenue generated by the levy totaled €2.30 billion. Payments for operators of renewable-energy-power plants and other expenditure totaled about €1.81 billion.

In 2017, income was €27.36 billion, expense was €26.33 billion. At the end of 2017, the EEG levy with its surplus of €3.91 billion increased by €1.03 billion compared to €2.89 billion the end of 2016.
