Chinese Hareon Solar Technology Company Limited and Indian independent power producer Renew Power Ventures Pvt. Ltd. announced the commissioning of their 172 MW solar project at Dichipally, Telangana, India. The plant uses tracking systems from Arctech Solar alongside more than 520,000 high efficiency, multi-crystalline silicon solar modules from Hareon Solar. The project is spread over approximately 1,100 acres of land and is connected to the Dichipally substation in Telangana via a 220 kV transmission line.

According to consultancy Mercom Capital Group, Renew Power initially won the contract by quoting a tariff of INR 5.5949 ($0.087) per kWh. A 25-year power purchase agreement for the entire 172 MW of capacity has been signed with the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd.

In April, Renew Power commissioned a 143 MW solar farm in Dichpally as well. »Over the next few months, we will reach an installed capacity of 510 MW in Telangana,« said Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO of Renew Power at that time. Total investment will cross INR 3,700 crore ($572 million).
