The people of mother earth have spoken and the ancient middle kingdom of China woke. And not the I just got out of bed woke, but a full steam ahead mentality to cure the planet.

A German colleague told me many years ago that China will cover the planet with glass. Referring to the massive scale of solar panel manufacturing. He was right.

Automation is the driver? A little. Really it is the air of China that is driving innovation and the sense of urgency. Red skies at night is a phrase from a pop sugar song, but the red skies of my youth in Los Angeles, California is deja vu here. The joke in my hometown is when the smog clears UCLA. Here when the smog clears we see Wuxi.

Yes, China is going to save the world, and America too.

1st they will go off-the-grid as a country. Along the way they will help other countries go off grid too.

The anticipation of the solar adoption curve is driving everyone. The fast of furious of our industry are footnotes already. Those that rode the internet wave are patient, slow and eager to be present when adoption hits. Slow down Musk we actually think you have some good ideas, but watching you burnout is not as pleasant as it sounds.

And hit it will! The Solar Adoption curve will grow at a faster pace than the adoption of email.

The disruption of mass solar adoption makes the Internet look like a dirt road. Internet freedom was very short lived. Making your own power is a lifetime.

Rural areas in India have a 100% renewable energy mandate. Notice, not a goal, a mandate.

WAKE UP AMERICA. We are driving ourselves backwards. What we refer to as the third world is about to go Jetsons on us. The beauty is the humble nature of the Chinese and Indian statements. They know, as I do, if they wake America then they will have to complete. But my country is asleep in its protection of monopoly profits before the health, wellbeing and happiness of citizens. Greed kills folks.

And India understands and welcomes international investors with huge depreciation and other benefits. It's not just laying glass on roofs in India. A very healthy manufacturing base is rising.

Trade shows are selling events. I get that. But it is the sincere exchange of ideas that is inspiring. The science is well over my head, but these minds are carefully presenting the micro world of cell structures and anode construction.

The base research is what is driving innovation. (China. Fast internet will help your scientists find answers sooner. Don't let control of the mind limit the ability for the giant leap. You claim fiber optical internet, but the speeds are slower than 28k baud. It's like internet 1992 speeds.)

On scale is lithium the answer? Asks Dr. Fujihira who's knowledge of this area is off the charts. Answer on doubling Lithium's capacity does not have the 18-month doubling of Moore's law, Intel leader's theorem of computer power advancement.

Storage is the main fight in this industry. It is what allows freedom from the grid and kills the monopoly. The central planners in California don't get it. I hope China will. To make your own power is the tip of self-reliance and freedom.

My translation of One-Belt-One-Road is that China is going to take Asia off-the-grid. One-Belt-One-Road is described as the largest infrastructure project in human history.

For Dr. Loh the one-belt-one-road will be a giant electric car charging network that is built into the road. Our arrogance is that the American government thinks the world will wait while they dumb it out. Nope. We are getting killed out there.

Energy Storage dominated the conversation in China. Why? Because everyone knows solar photovoltaic panels work. No guessing anymore. Put the rock in the sun and it rocks our world. But solar PV is only 25% of the day generator. We must store 100+% in just 6 hours.

The most interesting old technology that saw new light was molten metal batteries. The implication of the science shows this can be a game changer. My basic understanding is pressure cooker for metal that uses magnetic methods for changing electricity to heat.

Then using a thermocouple, it makes electricity. The molten metal batteries history goes back to building parts of Europe that did not have metal factories. Train car sized pressure cookers shipped tons of molten steel for manufacturing.

Magic? Maybe. Logical, oh yea.

Then the flywheel made its way to the stage. Spin it up and wind it down. This category of energy storage seems to be the most feared by the monopoly utility companies.

When we do the math of China going off-the-grid it becomes staggeringly clear that a real superpower will be born. Not only will the people of China breath fresh-air, but monies will not be spent on importing fossil fuels. As the country becomes healthy it will become unimaginably rich.

In the meantime, Trump is propping up coal and making new rules to make our skies red again.
