Italy-based inverter manufacturer, Elettronica Santerno, a unit of Italian solar developer Enertronica, has secured a US$6 million contract to supply 100 MW of its central inverters to Chile.

The company said it will provide its utility-scale modular inverters Sunway TG 1500V TE for 100 MW of PV capacity that an unspecified global utility active in the renewable energy sector aims to deploy in the country. “The operations startup is yet to be defined and will stretch beyond the year 2018,” the company said in a press release.

Elettronica Santerno currently provides O&M services for 200 MW of PV power plants in Chile, where it set up a new subsidiary in 2017.

“Since the acquisition of Elettronica Santerno,” Enertronica CEO Vito Nardi said, “the Group has made considerable efforts to relunch the subsidiary. Results have been particularly rewarding so far, as we managed to build up in just one year the company’s current pipeline of confirmed projects, for over 300 MW, to be realized in the following years.”

Enetronica acquired a majority stake in Elettronica Santerno from Italian industrial conglomerate Carraro Group in November 2016. According to Carraro’s 2016 financial results, Elettronica Santerno closed last year with a total turnover of €36.1 million ($38.5 million), an increase of 2.8%, compared to €35.2 million ($37.5 million) in 2015.
