Enel Green Power, the renewable energy subsidiary of Italian energy giant Enel, has begun construction of the Estrella Solar PV plant in Panama.
The project will be realized thanks to an investment of approximately $8 million and will be connected to the grid in June 2018, the company said in a statement.
The installation will supply the Panamanian headquarters of the Swiss group Nestlé in Jaguïto with electric power. Around 21,600 monocrystalline modules provided by an unspecified producer were used for the projects. Panama’s Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) granted provisional license to the project in October.
Enel has already built two photovoltaic plants in Panama: the Chiriquí solar plant of 12 MW in the province of the same name and the Sol Real plant of 42 MW in the province of Coclé.
