This bold project follows the Datong 50 MW “Top Runner” solar installation in China’s Shanxi Province, which covered 2.04 square kilometres of coal-mining subsidence areas in Wuhai City, and is Yingli’s second Top Runner project.
Yingli’s patented PANDA Bifacial panels will be used in the 100 MW array. They are designed to generate electricity from both the rear and the front of the panel, which according to Yingli’s chairman delivers a 17% higher yield than typical multi-crystalline solar modules. The whole project is expected to be connected to the grid in June 2018.
Once operational, it is expected that the project will offset the emissions of around 60.3 tons of dust, 13.4 tons of carbon, and reduce the discharge of 1.8 tons of cinder annually, and is expected to be of significance in terms of energy pressure relief, environment improvement and climate conservation.
“We are glad to participate in the Top Runner program again with our reliable and high efficient products,” said Liansheng Miao, Chairman and CEO of Yingli. “We believe that this project will be another sample of Yingli’s efforts in technological innovations to increase the efficiency and reduce the cost of solar power generation.”
