Scheduled to be switched on in early 2018, two solar farms totaling 140 MW will be equipped and connected to the local power grid by German industrial group Siemens.
The company has inked a supply deal with Turkish company Zorlu Enerji Holding for the 100 MW project in Bahawalpur, eastern Pakistan, which is expected to be expanded to a capacity of 300 MW in the future. Siemens was contracted by Quebec Engenharia, which is developing a 38 MW solar project in northeastern Brazil.
The scope of supply for both projects includes the transformers and medium voltage switchgear (RMUs) from Siemens as well as solar inverters from its technology partner Wind & Sun Technologies SL (WSTECH).
Both plants are expected to go into operation in early 2018.
Noting that its present collaboration with solar inverter manufacturer SMA Solar Technology AG is coming to an end on December 31, 2017, Siemens has announced plans to manufacture its own inverter portfolio in India, and offer integrated-voltage systems on this basis. The company will present its new portfolio at the Intersolar India trade show, to be held in Mumbai in early December.
