When you're the most valuable company in the world, Solar isn’t just a good idea it's a must.  In today’s world, it’s not just a matter of saving money but also social responsibility.  With renewable energy, a massive company can decrease carbon footprints and provide a healthier environment for the communities in which they are apart.

Apple is no stranger to how much Solar can save its company.  This month they reported a huge expansion in their solar farm with an additional 200 megawatts of solar power coming to Nevada.  The goal of the massive system is to provide power to their major data center located in Reno.   NV Energy is a partner in the project, Facts provided on their website state about the deal includes selling up to 5 megawatts of any excess power generated back to the grid to powerhouses and local businesses.  

"We are proud to play a role in helping Apple meet their energy needs with Nevada's abundant solar resource," said Paul Caudill, president, and CEO of NV Energy. "In partnership with our customers, we continue to develop a more balanced fuel mix in a way that benefits the local economy by providing hundreds of jobs for Nevadans, particularly those in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 357 and 396, and advances the state's policy goals." 

Apple has a similar system already running in China. This 200 MGw system operates all 35 of their china based retail locations along with 19 offices.  As solar continues on, It looks as if Apple isn’t the only one getting into the game.  The target was ranked #1 Nationwide to use Solar throughout their company. As more and more big business jumps on board with renewable resources we are going to see a big change in issues of climate change worldwide
