Origis Energy USA, Inc, a Miami based international solar development and construction firm, announced a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to develop a 32.5 MW PV system for Georgetown University to be constructed in La Plata, Charles County, Maryland. Once complete, the solar facility developed, built and owned by Origis Energy, will generate approximately 75,000 MWh each year and provide 49 percent of Georgetown’s electricity load for campus operations located in the nation’s capital.
The Origis Energy designs call for the use of single axis tracking technology and approximately 105,000 solar panel modules and will interconnect to the South Maryland Electric Cooperative transmission system. The project will create approximately 200 jobs during construction, which is anticipated to start in early 2019 and be completed by summer 2019.
