With 26 MW added in August, Italy installed 291 MW PV capacity in the past eight month (an increase of more than 14 percent compared to the same period in 2016), bringing the total installed capacity closer to 299 MW, which were installed in 2015. This offers a good chance of surpassing the PV power installed in 2016 (382 MW) by the end of the year. According to Anie Rinnovabili, citing data from Terna, residential installations account for 47 percent of new installed PV power in 2017. The regions that registered the greatest increase are Lazio, Piedmont, Tuscany, Valle d' Aosta and Veneto.
Overall, the renewable power (including wind and hydroelectric) installed in Italy in the first eight months amounted to 624 MW, an increase of 18 percent compared to 2016.
