Australian project developer Windlab Limited has secured a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Queensland, Australia, government owned corporation CS Energy to purchase the renewable energy and some of the large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) produced from »Kennedy Energy Park Phase I«. The project is a 60.5 MW hybrid renewable energy project, consisting of 15 MW PV, 43.5 MW wind and 2 MW Li Ion battery storage located near Hughenden in far North Queensland. The site is owned by Kennedy Energy Park Pty Ltd, a joint venture between Australian owned, Canberra based Windlab with Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation of Japan.
According to a company’s former announcement, the facility will consist of 9 to 12 turbines depending on final selection and up to 200,000 solar panels with single axis trackers. The storage equipment will be in size to 4 shipping containers. Windlab intends to build 1,200 MW of wind and solar north of Hughenden, after completing this first stage. »Kennedy Energy Park I« will be operational early in 2018.
