Japanese project developer Pacifico Energy K.K. starts construction of its second solar power plant in the Tohoku region. The 42 MW »Iwaki Mega Solar Power Plant« is located in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. Operations are expected to start in August 2019, following a 23 month construction period. Once commissioned, the plant will generate approximately 48 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Tohoku Electric Power Company will purchase all electricity generated by the plant. Toyo Engineering Corporation is appointed as EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) provider. Trina Solar will provide PV module.
To date, Pacifico Energy has completed construction of two solar power plants in Okayama (in Kumenan and Mimasaka) and one solar power plant in Miyagi (in Furukawa), each of which are now in commercial operation. Pacifico Energy is currently constructing two other solar power plants in Miyazaki (96 MW) and in Okayama (257 MW), respectively.
