Mexico: 843 MW of solar submitted for environmental approval

Six large-scale PV projects with a combined capacity of 843.6 MW were submitted for environmental approval to Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) last week.

According to the agency’s weekly bulletin, the largest project is for the construction of a 330 MW PV plant in Tepeyahualco, in the state of Puebla. The Proyecto Fotovoltaico Pachamama II project, submitted by Enr NL S. A. DE C. V., will include the construction of a 4 km transmission line and the installation of 942,857 solar modules.

A second project, named Parque Solar Fotovoltaico San Pedro, is planned to have a capacity of 99.9 MW and to be deployed in the municipality of Guerrero, in the state of Chihuahua. The power plant would consist of 351,360 PV panels and would need a 1.29 kV transmission line. Developer is Helio Chihuahua S. A. P. I. DE C.V.

Furthermore, the Semarnat revealed that another 200 MW project, dubbed Proyecto Fotovoltaico La Barca, is expected to be developed by Palo Fierro Solar S.R.L. DE C.V on a surface spread between the municipalities of La Barca and Jamay, in the state of Jalisco. This project was submitted by Vega Solar 10, S.A.P.I. DE C.V.

Another two projects with a capacity of 80 MW each, the Proyecto Palo Fierro Solar and the Proyecto Palo Fierro Solar I, were submitted by Palo Fierro Solar S.R.L. DE C.V, which hopes to build the two plants in Hermosillo, in the state of Sonora.

The last project, a 53.7 MW PV plant proposed for the municipality of Tecate, in the state of Baja California, was submitted by Energia Sierra de Suarez Holding S. DE R.L. DE C.V.
