Soltec to supply trackers for 38 MW thin-film project in Brazil

Soltec will supply 1,330 units to the Assuruá PV plant, and expects to deliver in two months. Soltec has stated that 60% of the equipment it will supply is of Brazillian origin.

Assuruá will be the fifth PV plant in Brazil to utilize Soltec’s trackers, and the second in Bahia. The trackers will be used to mount 319,200 CdTe thin film modules. The project is being developed by Quebec Energy, which has worked with Soltec on several projects previously.

“The configuration options of our standard tracker satisfy the application needs of frameless thin-film solar modules,” says José María Lozano, Engineering Global Director at Soltec. “The resulting six-up landscape module mounting solution provides complete tracker module-fill, and maximizes tracker yield potential.”

Soltec has seen plenty of activity in Latin American markets so far in 2017, having surpassed 500 MW installed capacity in Brazil earlier in the year, and also made its first moves into Mexico’s burgeoning PV market.
