Australia reached 5.9 GW cumulative installed PV rooftop systems

Australia has installed 1,718,722 rooftop PV systems, representing 5.90 GW in cumulative installed PV capacity, as of the end of July 2017, according to figures provided by Australia’s Clean Energy Regulator (CER). Since January 2017, the country added 77,317 small-scale PV systems. Australia had around 5.4 GW of cumulative installed rooftop PV power at the end of 2016.

In July, there were 6,139 small-scale renewable energy systems installed nationally, with a total generation capacity of 31,479 kW. Installation rates for July are currently tracking lower than June (6,859 systems).

In July, Queensland continues to have the highest level of small-scale installations across Australia with 2,037 systems installed, furthermore the highest number of commercial sized solar PV systems (10 to 100 kW) with 112 systems installed in that month. There were 343 commercial sized solar PV systems installed Australia-wide in July. The Clean Energy Regulator counted 97 PV systems that had a concurrent battery storage installation.
