Spanish infrastructure, technology and renewable energy company Elecnor has secured a €117.4 million (US$139.2 million) EPC contract for a PV farm in Australia.
The contract was awarded for Bungala Two; the second phase of Bungala One. On completion this will be Australia’s biggest solar PV farm. The country's largest solar and pumped hydro plant is also progressing.
The Elecnor project will have a power capacity of 137MW bringing the total capacity of the first two phases up to 275MW. The third phase is under development and will add 100MW, for a grand total of 374MW.
The development will consist of over 437,000 solar panels, generating enough power to supply 39,000 homes and covering more than 250 hectares.
The South Australian plant will be built for the investment consortium comprising Enel Green Power and Dutch Infrastructure.
The plant is due to connect to the grid by early 2019.
