Solar power eases pollution

Global warming is a silent killer that takes more people all the time. There are several dangerous parts of climate change and scientists are discovering more. Pollution is the most urgent problem some countries face in 2018. China and India, the world’s two biggest polluters, are also pointing the way in solar power production. This was late in coming, but its significance cannot be overstated. At the same time, China is also ordering many more coal-fired power plants which cause enormous pollution and human diseases.  Globally, we are using fossil fuels up so fast, we will run out in about fifty years. There is an urgent need to consider alternative energy sources because climate change needs action now. This article will give you a fundamental understanding of how energy is produced from nonrenewable resources and renewable resources. Fossil fuels may be damaging the environment more than you realize, which is why you should strongly consider solar power, as an alternative to regulate energy costs and improve the planet.

What are nonrenewable resources of energy?

To make an informed decision on how to select energy sources, you need to understand the contrast between nonrenewable resources and renewable resources. Scientifically speaking, nonrenewable resources are finite and cannot be readily produced. Nonrenewable resources take millions of years to develop from natural processes beneath the earth.

Essentially, there are four major nonrenewable resources that account for the vast majority of energy consumption in the U.S.:

Petroleum

Coal

Natural gas

Uranium

Here is a brief description of each type of nonrenewable resource

Petroleum

Petroleum is the term for fuel products created from raw, liquid crude oil. Over millions of years, fossil fuels have been generated from organisms that have been compressed underground. Burning petroleum products, such as gasoline, releases the energy stored in fossil fuels. This causes greenhouse gas emissions and adds to the global problem of climate change.

Coal

A large percentage of the power generated in the U.S. comes from coal mining. Similar to crude oil, coal is another fossil fuel that takes millions of years to make, but coal is mined from rock, whereas crude oil is a liquid. There are various varieties of coal, and each contains a different quantity of energy.

Natural gas

Your energy bill likely includes natural gas in addition to electricity. Natural gas is yet another example of fossil fuel that takes millions of years to form in various rock deposits underground. Natural gas is colorless, odorless and tasteless, and frequently derived from crude oil deposits since these two fossil fuels are intimately related.

Uranium

Uranium is the fuel that powers nuclear reactions. To generate enormous amounts of energy by splitting uranium atoms, scientists use a distinct kind of uranium that is rare. However, the nuclear energy produced from uranium creates radioactive waste that is very harmful to humans and the environment, requiring careful storage since nuclear waste degrades very slowly. Despite disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima, nuclear reactors are still online and some countries are envisioning firing up their currently inactive reactors. Are these people bent upon exposing even more people to this insidious way to boil water? We must make better energy decisions. We must learn to separate the garbage from the truth when it comes to discriminating among the energy choices. The only sensible solution at the present time is solar energy.
