The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) works with several nations to help with switching to more solar energy.
EERE partners
In support of the U.S. and the South Africa Energy Dialogue that encourages renewable energy cooperation, EERE is leading to speed up deployment of U.S. manufactured solar energy technology and support the adoption of increasingly strict energy-efficient building codes in South Africa. The South Africa Clean Energy Project works with a team of experts from the U.S. and South Africa.
Analyzing climate zones and discussing insights from the U.S. experience with product standards for building materials, focusing on cool surfaces. Cool surfaces reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat than standard surfaces. Building codes with product labeling and testing procedures, develop a quality standard making it easier for U.S. to export to one of Africa’s biggest markets while ensuring that new construction fulfills energy efficient requirements.
EERE partners with the Israeli Ministry of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources (MIEW) to pursue jointly-funded research and demonstration projects to commercialize cutting-edge clean energy technologies. The two governments work through the Bi-national Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation.
This is a quasi-governmental entity that encourages, advertises, and support industrial R&D to benefit the United States and Israel. BIRD oversees solicitation that mandates a partnership between U.S. and Israeli companies. They give financial support of up to 50% of a project's total budget.
Forming Scientific Partnerships
The EU-U.S. Energy Council was made to deepen the transatlantic dialogue on strategic energy concerns and create low carbon energy sources, while fortifying scientific partnerships. They’ve created three groups that focuses on Global Energy Security and Markets, Energy Policy, and Technology Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D).
EERE participates in events under the Policy working group (energy efficiency and electric vehicles) and an activity under the Technology RD&D working group (hydrogen and fuel cells). EERE and the EU-U.S. Energy Council aide to bring together subject-matter experts from Europe and the United States to facilitate events and give sound counsel.
This cooperation speeds up energy policy, deployment, and the creation of solar energy technologies. DOE licensed the highly successful U.S. Solar Decathlon student competition to European counterparts. Spain and France hosted events. The Solar Decathlon is a competition that challenges university students to design, create and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient and aesthicially pleasing.
The winner is for a team that best marries affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with energy production and maximum energy efficiency. If you want to find out what solar panels are right for you, go to HahaSmart.com and try our price checker tool.
