The Office of Strategic Programs increases the impact of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)'s clean energy mission through strategic engagement, innovative and integrative programs and a portfolio-wide perspective. The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) plays a crucial role in numerous multinational clean energy relationships.
IPEEC is an independent partnership of 16 member economies, with a Secretariat arranged at the International Energy Agency (IEA). The partnership gives a distinctive forum for discussion to encourage energy efficiency progress in economies that represent 75% of global energy use and 80% of greenhouse gas emissions. They function on a distributed leadership model. Each member voluntarily leads, engages, and donates to individual task groups. EERE is involved in a few task groups to bring home lessons learned from experience and stimulate global deployment of U.S. energy efficiency technologies.
IRENA is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. IRENA is a force for advertising a quick shifts towards the use of clean energy around the world. The U.S. is among the 150+ country signatories to IRENA. The agency is building a network of clean energy experts, mapping global renewable energy potential, building a database of renewable energy policies, and counseling its members about successful policies and financial plans to advance renewable energy.
International energy agency (IEA) working groups and implementing agreements
The IEA Implementing Agreements pool international resources to plan joint energy research, development, and deployment of clean energy technologies. EERE programs engage in implementing agreements.
The United States, Australia, and Iceland signed the IPGT Charter Agreement to speed up the creation of advanced geothermal technologies, including geothermal systems. The IPGT and its members facilitate and do research and development of economical geothermal technologies, advance the accessibility of these technologies, locate and discuss issues of geothermal energy. EERE's Geothermal Technologies Program serves on the IPGT steering committee. There’s six technical areas to advance geothermal technologies: lower price drilling, stimulation procedures, zonal isolation and packers, reservoir modeling, exploration technologies, high-temperature tools.
The IPHE is a partnership to nurture research and technology development teamwork to speed up fuel cells and hydrogen technologies into our global energy system. They have a forum for the discussion of international policies, codes and standards, and safety measures that advance the transition to hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. EERE's Office of Fuel Cell Technologies Program is the U.S. lead and is involved in activities in the IPHE.
